I loved the premise for the story and the author has an engaging enough style of writing. I loved the idea that a woman was given an honor usually bestowed on men. But I wanted her to be tougher. She was caught off gaurd a couple of times and though she gamely attached the bad guy, she had to have help defeating him. And I don't mind her getting help, but she didn't made a convincing swordman to me. She should have been able to flip someone or get away from them or something. The other thing that botered me was the swordmates. That could have been cool, but it bothered me that swordmates were more important or necessary to swordmen than their marriage partners were.Product details

Amazing how much a good writer can put into a short story. I loved the world the author created and hope she will be continuing the story of the main characters. Loved the idea of swordmates. A richly drawn story that you'll wish went on much longer.
